A serious mini-grid developer does not simply install panels. Development runs through identifiable stages, each of which shapes whether the project actually works, financially and technically.

The Stages

1. Site identification: communities and facilities requiring power. 2. Energy assessment: existing supply, customers, appliance usage, commercial activity, productive loads, future demand. 3. Load assessment: peak demand, daily consumption, seasonal demand, load profile.

4. Solar resource assessment: irradiation, weather, shading, orientation, land availability. 5. Technical design: PV capacity, battery capacity, inverters, distribution network, transformer capacity, protection, metering. 6. Economic analysis: CAPEX, OPEX, tariffs, revenue, financing, lifecycle cost.

7. Regulatory process: applicable approvals. 8. Procurement: modules, batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, cables, meters. 9. Construction. 10. Testing and commissioning: electrical safety, protection, performance, metering, controls, power quality. 11. Operations. 12.
